Niecy Nash on Dancing with the Stars

Niecy Nash, the curvy and gorgeous star of “Clean House” and “Reno 911,” is set to compete in the 10th season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” which debuts March 22. When the cast was announced on March 2, she sent out this excited Tweet: “Yep! It’s official! I will be on Dancing With The Stars!!! Omg!!!”

She also posted this Twitpic of herself in her “Dancing” gear.

Niecy, also a panelist on “The Insider,” will be competing against actresses Pamela Anderson and Shannen Doherty, NFL player Chad Ochocinco, soap star Aiden Turner, ESPN’s Erin Andrews, astronaut Buzz Aldrin (!), Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, figure skater Evan Lysacek, “Bachelor” Jake Pavelka, and reality “star” Kate Gosselin.

Niecy’s partner is Louis Van Amstel. Executive producer Conrad Green told Entertainment Weekly: “‘We met Niecy and we thought, we have to put her with someone who gets her. That’s Louis. As soon as Louis met her, he came back grinning from ear-to-ear. ‘It’ll be good!’ Louis really understands strong women. Niecy’s gonna be hilarious. She’s here for her own reasons — she was kicked out of a high school play by a teacher who told her she couldn’t dance. She’s doing it for redemption!”

I think “strong woman” is an understatement when you’re talking about Miss Niecy. Can’t wait to see how she fares against some strong competition.

Curvy ladies are a relative rarity on “Dancing With the Stars.” The only others I know of are singer Kelly Osbourne (season 9) and Broadway star Marissa Jaret Winokur (season 6). Here’s hoping Niecy does bigger girls proud!
