Bio according to People.com: Kate Dillon was an overweight child who turned to anorexia to lose weight. She was discovered in 1991 by a photographer in her hometown of San Diego. Though severely underweight, she came in third in Elite’s Look of the Year contest, winning a $75,000 contract. By age 19, the lifestyle had taken its toll, and with the help of a nutritionist started to gain weight. After putting on about 30 pounds, she quit the business to study education in New York City. While there, she tried plus-size modeling and was quickly signed to Wilhelmina. She became on of the stars of the plus-size modeling world, and lectures nationwide about eating disorders. She is the founder of Echo, a nonprofit organization benefiting art programs for children.
Also: Dillon was named one of the “5o Most Beautiful People in the World” by People magazine in 2000
